Weekend Rewind - Iowa Speedway: Spencer Davis and Christian Eckes Escape from Iowa with Top-10 Finishes

Concord, NC (July 10, 2017) - The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards returned to America's heartland over the weekend for the 11th annual 'Fans with Benefits 150' at Iowa Speedway.

Featuring the driver trio of Christian Eckes, Spencer Davis, and Zane Smith, Venturini Motorsports entered Saturday's event hopeful after claiming three of the top-10 finishing spots the last time out at Madison.

Marking the halfway point on the series schedule, Iowa proved to be frustrating for VMS as the team's three car charge was unable to challenge for the victory - instead settling for two top-10's and a 13th place finish.

“Rough night for our team across the board,” said Billy Venturini. “Our cars were a little off and we missed on pit strategy. Very disappointing – but we’ll dig deep and rebound when we return to Indianapolis in two weeks.”

After qualifying third Spencer Davis was top team performer with a seventh place finish behind the wheel of his No.25 Pinty's Toyota Camry. Davis, who challenged for the pole, qualified third but was unable to find the speed during the race settling for his third top-10 finish in four series starts.

Davis will compete in three more series races this season beginning with Lucas Oil Raceway in two weeks followed by Kentucky Speedway in September and the series finale at Kansas Speedway on October 20.

Christian Eckes, emerging as one of the top series drivers, cooled off finishing eighth driving his familiar New York Bus Sales backed Toyota.

Running a limited schedule, Eckes has scored six consecutive top-10 finishes in as many races. Eckes has three more series events scheduled with VMS this season beginning with Lucas Oil Raceway July 21, Winchester Speedway in August and the Salem Speedway Fall Classic in September.

Making his first appearance at Iowa Speedway, Zane Smith struggled to find the answer finishing a disappointing 13th in Saturday night’s 150-lap event. Smith, driver of the No.55 La Paz Margarita Mix – Icon Vehicle Dynamics Toyota will reload for the July 21st event at Lucas Oil Raceway.

Smith, with eight season starts, has tallied three top-5 and six top-10 finishes.

The team will travel to Indianapolis this weekend to take part in a test session in advance of ARCA's Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 July 21st race at Lucas Oil Raceway.
