Regarding the Flat Rock Race:

Looking forward to this weekend. I think the test went pretty well or at least as well as I realistically hoped for. I know I’m fast enough to have fun and that was my goal. Just to be able to go out there, compete a little bit, and have fun at Flat Rock. I think now I’m in a position where that should be achievable. I should run decently, I’m sure there will be a handful that will be faster but I should be able to race with some people and make it a fun night.

Sean Hingorani – No. 15 GEARWRENCH Toyota Camry

Regarding the Flat Rock Race:

I’m looking forward to another East race this weekend. It’s always exciting going to a new track and this race is really special for the team. I’m glad to be a part of it. I’m also looking forward to racing against Billy. He’s been my spotter at a couple races now so it will be fun to have him as a teammate.

ARCA Team Owner Billy Venturini Announces Return to the Drivers Seat for first ARCA Series Start Since 2007

May 10, 2023 (Concord, NC) – Billy Venturini, owner and chief architect of the most prolific NASCAR driver development team in ARCA Menards Series history, announced his return to the seat for the upcoming ARCA East event at Flat Rock Speedway on May 20.

Strapping into a race car for the first time in 17 years, Billy Venturini will be piloting his own Venturini Motorsports’ car – the No.20 JBL Toyota Camry to cross off one of his lifelong “bucket list” items.

Venturini, known for spearheading his race team’s efforts, doesn’t want anyone to be confused by his intentions going into the event.

“I am not coming out of retirement,” he reiterated with a laugh. “In no way does this mark my return to the seat on a regular basis. No matter the outcome, this is a one and done for me. I never got to race at Flat Rock when I was racing full time. I don’t have a desire to be a racecar driver again; I’ve been there and done that. But I do have a desire to do this.”

Flat Rock Speedway holds a significant place in the history of the family owned racing team. Billy Venturini describes the importance of this endeavor stating that,“this is an opportunity for me to race at the track where I watched my dad win his first career ARCA Race. It’s also the one track I never had the opportunity to race. I always told Ron Drager, if ARCA goes back to Flat Rock, I’m racing!”

So what are his expectations?

“I know I am going to be a little rusty,” he said. “We’ll go test beforehand just to knock the rust off. It’s been 17 years. After that we’ll have a more realistic view of what our expectations will be. But I am going there to enjoy myself. It’s truly the first time I’ve raced for fun.”

He will have plenty of support in his corner, as former East Series championship-winning crew chief Shannon Rursch will be calling the shots on the pit box. Additionally, former VMS driver and current NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Brennan Poole will be his spotter.

“Shannon said ‘I don’t care what else we have going on, I want to be your crew chief for that race,’ and Brennan could be a Cup spotter if he wasn’t busy as a racecar driver,” Venturini said. “I have some really good people in my corner and Toyota loved the idea so it’s just a great atmosphere to do this.

“I’ll be in the No. 20 JBL Toyota Camry. I’m excited to get behind the wheel of the 20 car. A lot of people expected it to be the No. 25, and my family certainly had a lot of success and history with that number, but the No. 20 has always been my car. We won an owner’s championship with that car, so I thought it was just natural that it was the number used for my return.”

Billy Venturini was a mainstay on the ARCA circuit for his thirteen-year career between 1994 and 2007. Taking over the team’s flagship No.25 full-time after his father’s retirement, Billy, always the underdog, showed grit and determination driving for his underfunded family race team. The highlight of his career was his victory at Salem Speedway on April 23, 2006. Venturini wrapped up his career with a collection of 28 top-5 and 75 top-10 finishes.

Having grown up in the sport, the 47-year old has dedicated his entire life to racing. Starting off as a toddler in the pits watching his father race at Rockford Speedway in the late 70’s, Venturini has built his career from the ground up, serving as a parts chaser, tire changer, mechanic, and spotter until eventually reaching his goal of becoming a driver.

Despite putting together a respectable racing resume, Billy Venturini will always be best known for the years that followed him vacating the drivers seat. After retiring in 2007, he fell back on his vast knowledge of the only thing he ever knew – the sport of racing.

Through a personal friendship with JD Gibbs, Billy was given the opportunity in 2008 to put his years of racing experience to the test assisting Joe Gibbs Racing, fielding a Venturini Motorsports car in the ARCA Series for a top-prospect named Joey Logano. Collectively taking on the legendary Rockingham Speedway in the spring of 2008, the pair made history as Logano dominated the event to achieve his first ever ARCA victory.

Now, sixteen-years later, Venturini continues to impact the sport of racing having helped to  launch the NASCAR careers of 26 young driver including the likes of two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano, William Byron, Alex Bowman, Christopher Bell, Erik Jones, Chandler Smith, Corey Heim and recent NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series winner Christian Eckes to name a few.

Creating a blueprint using his ingenuity along with an eye for talent, Venturini has turned his family’s Venturini Motorsports team into the most powerful team in ARCA history. Celebrating championships – both driver titles and owner titles – they’ve become the winningest team in series history with a commanding 88 wins.

The ARCA Menards Series East race at Flat Rock Speedway is set for Saturday, May 20, 2023 and will be streamed live on FloRacing. A one-hour rebroadcast will be shown on CNBC on Sunday, May 27 at 11 am ET. Advance general admission tickets can be purchased starting on April 10 at FlatRockSpeedway.com or by calling (419) 727-1100. The VMS Winning Streak Continues With a Fifth Consecutive Victory

Venturini Motorsports (VMS) closed out another successful weekend, picking up their fifth consecutive win in the 2023 season and 88th ARCA victory in team history. 18 year old Jesse Love drove the No. 20 GEARWRENCH Toyota Camry into Victory Lane following another dominant performance, placing himself in the lead of the drivers championship standings and picking up his fourth career ARCA victory.

Love set the tone early for the weekend by securing the fastest time in Friday’s test as well as in the only practice session of the weekend on Saturday. Subsequently, Love went on to claim the pole position award with a time three tenths removed from his next closest competitor.

Following his victory, Love explained his attitude going into the race, “I did a lot of prep work and talked to a lot of people that have won where I’m trying to win. I felt like I was pretty much ready to rip off the truck. I kind of worked up to it in practice, but at the same time I thought we were really good all weekend. And obviously my car was a bottle rocket.”

Despite being Love’s first time taking on a 1.5 mile track, Love won the race after leading 96 laps. Right behind him to finish in second was his VMS teammate, Dean Thompson, in the No. 25 Thompson Pipe Group Toyota Camry. This marks the second one-two finish for VMS this season following Love’s victory at Talladega Superspeedway with his teammate Gus Dean bringing home a second place finish.

Kansas saw Thompson not only secure his highest career finish in the ARCA Menards Series, but also lead a lap for the first time in his ARCA career on his VMS debut.

t was a promising weekend for Amber Balcaen in the No.15 ICON Toyota Camry. On only her third outing with the team she was able to put her car in fourth position during the Saturday qualifying session, just behind her teammate Dean Thompson.

Rounding out a monumental weekend for the team, Toni Briedinger became the first woman to run in both the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in a single day. Briedinger was supported by Victoria’s Secret for both the ARCA race as well as her Truck Series debut.

Venturini Motorsports will be chasing their sixth consecutive victory this weekend at the ARCA Menards Series East Race at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. The race will kick off at 9:30pm ET and will air live on FloRacing on May 13th. CNBC will offer delayed viewing on May 21st at 12:30pm ET.

Phoenix Rising: Jake Finch earns first ARCA East victory at Dover

DOVER, Del. — The legacy of James Finch and Phoenix Racing remains alive and well in stock car racing.

Carrying the iconic Phoenix Racing logo on the hood of his No. 20 Venturini Motorsports Toyota at Dover Motor Speedway during Saturday’s General Tire 125, James’ son Jake Finch had to fend off a challenge from Landen Lewis during a green-white-checkered finish to earn his first ARCA Menards Series East victory.

Jake had no idea what to expect from Lewis or himself during the sprint to the finish, but credited his crew chief Shannon Rursch and spotter Tyler Monn for keeping him composed through a chaotic last restart.

“Tyler Monn and Shannon Rursch really calmed me down [on that last restart],” Jake said. “I was a little nervous and thought I was going to sell it. You’re thinking of all the worst possible scenarios that can happen, but [Tyler and Shannon] told me to keep doing what I was doing.”

Success has long followed the Finch family in stock car racing, with Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Jamie McMurray, Randy LaJoie and Jeff Purvis among those who visited Victory Lane in one of NASCAR’s top three divisions under the Phoenix Racing banner.

The younger Finch’s own dreams of racing in NASCAR have kept Phoenix Racing around on a smaller scale. Since the turn of the decade, James has maintained an active presence in short track racing by helping his son develop his race craft in Super Late Model competition and now ARCA Menards Series East.

Jake’s gradual improvement ultimately caught the attention of Venturini Motorsports. After making two starts with the organization in 2022, Venturini brought Jake back for an expanded part-time schedule that would see him contest races in all three ARCA divisions.

Looking to build upon a solid third-place finish in the ARCA Menards Series East opener at Five Flags Speedway last month, Jake utilized patience at the beginning of the General Tire 125 before quickly working his way around Lewis and teammate Conner Jones during the first restart of the day.

Jake faced consistent pressure from Lewis during the closing stages, but felt confident he could fend off the ARCA Menards Series West points leader, even after a cut tire from Jones forced a green-white-checkered restart.

A strong jump from Lewis on the outside caught Jake by surprise, but he remembered the advice passed down from his crew to stay calm. He successfully kept his car on the bottom of the track before moving Lewis out of the groove just enough on the last lap to pull away to the victory.

“I didn’t think [Landen] would be on my door at that point because we were so good,” Finch said. “I did what I thought I should do and we ended up winning, which is an awesome feeling.”

Jake’s triumph at Dover continued a recent string of success for Venturini Motorsports Sean Hingorani has claimed the last two ARCA Menards Series West races, while Jesse Love gave Venturini their first win of the 2023 ARCA Menards Series season at Talladega Superspeedway last Saturday.

Luke Fenhaus brought home a solid third-place finish behind Finch and Lewis. William Sawalich and Lavar Scott completed the top-five.

A replay of the General Tire 125 at Dover Motor Speedway can be seen on CNBC at 11 a.m. ET on May 7.

The ARCA Menards Series East will be back in action on May 13 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, with the green flag set to wave at 9:30 p.m. ET. The race will be streamed live on FloRacing.

VMS Dominates the ARCA Weekend Making History With Two Unprecedented Victories in a Single Day

Venturini Motorsports (VMS) swept the ARCA weekend procuring two historic victories in a single day, a near impossible feat for any team. Jesse Love conquered Talladega Superspeedway in the Main Series while Sean Hingorani made a triumphant drive to a Kern County Raceway Park Victory in the West Series. Already holding the record of winningest team in the history of the series, Venturini Motorsports has extended their run to 86 total wins in ARCA. As the only team to ever challenge for three championship titles in a single season, VMS has found its stride with three consecutive victories.

18 year old driverJesse Love, from Menlo Park, California, secured his first superspeedway win of his career at the General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway. Love made his speedway debut at the ARCA Menards Series Season opener at Daytona this season having just reached age eligibility. On only his second speedway outing, he was able to hold off his teammate, Gus Dean, and bring home a one-two for Venturini Motorsports. Love was supported by his crew chief, Shannon Rursch, and spotter, Tyler Monn. This marks Love’s third victory in the ARCA Menards Series.

Love managed a commanding performance at the iconic track, leading the first half and pulling off the Reese’s Sweet Move of the race to retake the lead on lap 69 for the victory. Following the celebrations Love described the significance of the victory. “I’ve been going through a lot emotionally just trying to stay positive but also stay confident and it just feels good to know that what you’re doing is right.”

Elaborating on the impact of his family’s presence, “My mom doesn’t get to come to a lot of these races. She’s back home making sure our family life is secure. I moved away from home at about 15 years old, I didn’t get a whole lot of time with my mom the last three years so to win when my mom’s here at the race she wanted to go to the most just made me feel really good. She’s definitely my source of motivation.”

Later that evening, over 2000 miles away, 16 year old rookie Sean Hingorani, from Newport Beach, California, took on the NAPA Auto Parts BlueDEF 150 at Kern County Raceway Park. Starting from second place and taking on an early race penalty, Hingorani was able to fight his way back up to win from a lap down. Hingorani’s victory is a first for the team at the ARCA Menards Series West track. Aside from being the second victory for the team in a day, it was also the second ARCA West victory for Hingorani in a row. He most recently captured the win at Irwindale Speedway, becoming the first driver of Indian Descent to win a NASCAR race.

On his second consecutive ARCA Menards Series West victory and the championship battle Hingorani explains, “I’m just trying to do the best I can, get the best finishes possible. I’ve got the right guys behind me to do it.”

Hingorani had team owner Billy Venturini as his spotter once again, after winning alongside him previously at Irwindale. Monon Rahman served as Hingorani’s crew chief and the victory marked Rahman’s first in the role of crew chief.

Rahman, who is Bengali, had aspirations of working in NASCAR as early as high school. Rahman interned with Venturini Motorsports and traveled with the team for multiple races in the 2017 and 2018 seasons before graduating college at the age of 19 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Working full time as the VMS engineer, Rahman has more recently stepped up into the role of crew chief under the guidance of team owner, Billy Venturini. This first victory is a sign of what’s to come as Venturini Motorsports continues their efforts out West.

Venturini Motorsports heads to Dover Motor Speedway this weekend for the second round of the ARCA Menards East Series Championship. Catch all of the action live on FloRacing at 5:30pm ET.
